Photos a la Thing 1

February 4th, 2014

The tall one got his own phone.  Really it’s an old phone that has no actual phone capabilities right now.  It’s solely on wireless.  He thinks he’s hot stuff being able to pick his own games and carry his phone around.  He discovered the camera and the pictures are awesome.  These are just a sampling of the world from his view.

Giant Dinosaur Tooth

February 1st, 2014

Thing One was so very proud to show us the “biggest dinosaur tooth” that he got!

mad science He’s starting his second round of Mad Science.  It’s once a week after school and it’s kind of awesome the things he gets to do and learn about.  In the fall the class was “Fantastic Forces.”  He made a bridge, learned about gravity, talked about electricity, and even brought home a talking stick.  This round is “Science Comes Alive.”  The first class was about dinosaurs.  He got to bring home a giant tooth that he couldn’t wait to get home and show everyone.  As we were driving home (the whole 2 minutes it takes) he whispered (even though it was just the two of us in the car) that it wasn’t really real.  It was a fake tooth that he got to paint brown with a cotton ball.  He has proceeded to dino-stomp around the house with his tooth.

School is “the most boringest thing ever” so it’s awesome that we’ve found something for him to truly be excited about.  Now if only we could work on making homework more exciting too.  I’m still the meanest mom ever when it comes to making him write his numbers and read his site words.  I guess that’s my cross to bear.

Thing Two on the other hand, is the most excited to go to his new class.  He can’t wait to drop his brother off at school so we can go “over da bridge and up da mountain” to find his class.  It has done him a world of good too.  Just the fact that it’s a change of face and a whole room of 3 year olds to herd, he has to be more independent.  If you listen to him, you’d think he was the most helpless thing in the world.  Clearly his arms and legs don’t work.  Now that he’s forced to do things on his own, it’s amazing that he actually can do it!  He actually told me not to help him put his coat on when we were ready to go home the other day.  I thought I had the wrong kid for a second.

This new class has also helped his diet.  At the center we serve the veggies first and then move on the the main course.  The fruit is always served last.  I have had a few conversations with his teacher and we both agreed that he has to take at least a bite of veggie before he can move on.  I guess his line is always that “it’s too hot.”  They laugh because he pulls that out even for cold foods.  It’s amazing how quick he takes a bite when everyone else gets the next thing but him.

By the way…

2014

January 6th, 2014

We survived Christmas and have started a new year!

I love Christmas when everyone gets excited. It seems like people are in a cheerful and giving mood. It’s awesome to be able to get together and spend time with family and friends. By the end of it all, it’s nice to sit and relax though. There are so many more (and better) pictures but this is what I have on my computer right now.

CoconutsWith Christmas, brought chickenpox to our household. Even with the vaccine, poor Tex got the pox. Thankfully it was super mild and didn’t seem to bother him a whole lot. I called the spots polk-a-dots. He couldn’t remember that term and kept calling them coconuts. We just referred to them as coconuts from then on out. Coconuts do have some spots so it’s not completely wrong. The poor kid might have a skewed view of coconuts later in life. Oops. Eato may or may not have joined in the fun. He had a couple little spots that could have been a pox here and there but his skin is so sensitive and always has spots and scrapes that we don’t know. Either way, we’re all in the clear now and can check that off the list.

girlI also started a new job right around Christmas. Change is always scary but it was time to take the leap. It was with a sad heart that I said goodbye to everyone at the elementary school and said hello to my new job as a one year old teacher. I’m in love! My co-workers are awesome and supportive. The kids are spicy and can be a handful but are adorable and lovable! Tex comes with me now too. He’s not quite as sold on the place in the mornings but once he gets going, he has fun. He was so very proud to tell me today that he was able to pull up his own undies and pants. It’s those moments that make this so worth while. I’m still learning and trying to make the room mine but for now, I know this was a great move for me.

I actually saw midnight on New Years Eve this year! I was pretty proud of myself. We had a fun time hanging out with friends and getting to be adults. There were other kids there but there’s something about a cute little person that isn’t yours. I got to play and be the fun one, not the one that makes the rules. My two boys got to ring in the new year by starting with rainbow pancakes. They were covered in sprinkles, powdered sugar, and whip cream. Life doesn’t get any better! Then they went to my parents house to rock out.

And now we welcome 2014. I look forward to the good and the challenges. I am excited for what will come and what changes and differences I can see and make in my life and in the world around me.

“I’m 3 today and I be 3 tomorrow too!”

November 24th, 2013

My handsome man has turned 3 and I couldn’t be more proud of the person he is becoming.

We had a small family gathering in his honor. He was so excited that everyone was at HIS house and got to eat Bot cupcakes!

On his actual birthday he got to wear a “fancy birfday shirt”, eat “birfday breapast”, bring “birfday cupcakes” to daycare, and even have a “birfday poop.” Life just couldn’t get any better!

Gratitude

September 18th, 2013

image

Today I am grateful.
I have a husband that loves and supports me, even if I’m a tad special.
I have two boys that truly love each other and are growing into awesome people.
I have an awesome family that I can lean on, and I have friends that could really fall into the family category.
But the most important thing I am thankful for this morning would be the 3 cars in a row on the back of the toilet. It is a good reminder that life just can’t get better.
Today I am grateful.
